Kiwi musical director Mark Dennison has pulled together a 13-piece band for this year’s inaugural Mercury Bay Music Festival.
The Brass in Pocket line-up includes some of the best horn players in the country, all of whom have played with international stars.
Originally from Sydney, Dennison has recorded and toured with some of the big names in the business including John Farnham, Australian Crawl, Neil Finn, Barry White, Elaine Paige, Jimmy Barnes, Manhattan Transfer and Sting.
He is involved in television musical direction for such shows as Showstoppers, Stars In Their Eyes and New Zealand’s Got Talent. His credits also include Auckland theatre productions.
His first New Zealand gig was over 30 years ago, playing sax with DD Smash at the Queen Street riot. Since then, he has worked as a musician, writer and conductor in New Zealand and around the world.
